Innovation and Expansion Fuels Our Growth

Liquid Container was founded in 1966 with a focus and emphasis on stock gallon, half gallon and quart HDPE containers for a growing number of Chicago based customers. The company experienced continued growth with expansion to four plants, and in 1990, Liquid Container’s founders sold it to current principal shareholders Mid Oaks Investments and Gallagher Industries.

Under the direction of the new ownership and management, the company experienced rapid growth as it expanded its manufacturing presence coast-to-coast and added PET manufacturing capacity through the acquisition of Plaxicon in 1996. During this decade, the company added three stock, PET plants and four dedicated near-site manufacturing plants for strategic customers. The company also commercialized high-volume, low-cost manufacturing platforms for HDPE canisters and the lowest-cost manufacturing platform for wide mouth PET jars using an amorphous finish.

In recent years, the company has continued to grow through strategic relationships, adding three additional near-site plants and introducing high-volume, high-performance HDPE barrier packaging for canisters with a 160mm neck finish. In addition to expansion in HDPE barrier packaging technology, the company has expanded its presence through commercialized state-of-the art long-stroke manufacturing technology and has developed high-speed, three-panel heat-transfer labeling technology, along with other value added services.

Today, Liquid Container produces some of the most recognizable and yet challenging packages on the market. We have developed leading-edge technology through strategic partnerships that will enable us to continue to offer low-cost, high-volume packaging solutions to our customers.
