Job Description:
Quality Assurance Technician I (QA I)
Shift: Continuous Nights (7 pm - 7 am)
General Summary: Assure quality of bottles and the final package prior to shipment to the customer. Train new personnel on the importance of quality and on various plant quality systems and issues. Must be available to work overtime on short notice as needed to maintain quality standards of product. Works closely with the Supervisor, Process Molding Technicians (PMT's), and Utilities to achieve a quality product.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
1. Follow all established safety, health, quality GMP and Company policies, procedures and recognized practices.
2. Follow all established policies, procedures and recognized practices.
3. Participate in continuous quality improvement projects and other related activities as assigned.
4. Compare product on each line with the production schedule. Informs Supervisor if items differ and takes appropriate action.
5. Visual checks of bottles and box glue patterns on a regular basis for final packaging audits.
6. Report all rejected defects to PMTs and Supervisor. Follow through until defect is corrected.
7. Follow established procedures for defective products and gives all information to the Supervisor when product is put on ""Hold"".
8. Report completed rework of defective products data according to established procedures.
9. May assist in training as assigned.
10. Assist the Supervisor as required.
11. Perform specified checks in accordance to Plant's inspection plan.
12. Verify correct operation of in-line inspection devices, i.e. - leak testers, vision systems, metal detectors and other appropriate automated inspection equipment.
13. Complete all reports and forms for product and process documentation.
14. Enter required data to plant's Statistical Process Charts (SPC) database.
15. Complete written documentation as required.
16. Assist in break relieves and helps out in production area when needed.
17. Keep Quality Assurance inspection areas clean.
18. Communicate about quality with other shifts and departments verbally and through written documents according to established procedures.

Education and Experience: High School Graduate or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Skill in performing basic computer data entry. Ability to understand written specifications. Ability to perform trouble shooting and follow through to solution.
Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instruction, short correspondence, and memos (i.e. safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals) in English. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Computer Skills: Basic computer skills.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to interpret bar graphs and charts. Must have ability to use caliper, micrometer and various other Q.A. tools.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
